The 1978-1980 Pontiac Grand Am, and 1978-1981 Pontiac LeMans are GM’s forgotten G-Bodies. While the Chevy Malibu was popular with hotrodders, these GM’s seem to have been overlooked and forgotten over the years.

The 1978-1980 Pontiac Grand Am, and 1978-1981 Pontiac LeMans share the same G-platform as the:

  • 1978-1987 Pontiac Grand Prix
  • 1978-1987 Buick Regal
  • 1978-1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
  • 1978-1983 Chevrolet Malibu
  • 1978-1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass

That means that there’s a number of suspension upgrades out there that will work on these cars. Also consider that the 301 V8 offered in these cars have the same transmission bellhousing bolt pattern as the Pontiac 400, and 455! Or maybe you could build something more unique like a turbo 301 Grand Am or LeMans.
